The Rev. Dr. Michael Hughes comes to us from Kansas, where he pastored the Burlingame Federated Church for eight and one-half years.  In January of 1982, Pastor Mike moved from Kansas to Sunnyside at the urging of the Lord and an invitation from the church (Sunnyside, not Burlingame!)  He graduated from the Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia, KS with a BA in Psychology and Social Science (1968) and an MA in History (1971).  He graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA with an M Div. in 1973.  He recieved his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller in 1994.  Michael is married to Linda since 1968.  She also graduated from Emporia State (BSE in 1969).  She receiver her Masters in Education from Heritage College and is a teacher with the Sunnyside School District.  They have three children.  Pamela Rensch (husband Chris and children Ariel and Jonah) live in Snohomish, WA  Timothy (married to Stacy, of the Schilperoort clan) graduated from Fuller in 2006, and was ordained in our church in December, 2006.  He is the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Port Angeles, Washington since March, 2007.  Jonathan (wife Stephannie of the Stokes clan) is a PTA (physical therapy) at Summit Rehabilitation in Marysville.  Michael enjoys photography and hunting.  Linda likes shopping for the kids and grandchildren. email drevhughes@embarqmail.com.  Phone 509-837-2734

Worship Leaders

Barry and Elizabeth DeHaan, Midwest natives, moved to the Yakima Valley in the Summer of 2007. from Alamosa, Colorado.  They have three children, Anna, who is 5, Sabas who is 3 and Eilie who was born in 2009.  Barry teaches science at Sunnyside Christian High School and Elizabeth is a nurse and occasionally works at Memorial Hospital Hospice and Sunnyside Hospital.  Before they were married, Barry and Elizabeth did quite a bit of world travel.  Barry traveled to Thailand and Ecuador and Elizabeth to Europe, New Zealand and Ecuador as well.  Barry has held many different jobs besides teaching including being a Boy Scout exxecutive, vaccine lab research scientist, full time volunteer, carpenter and more.  Elizabeth did travel nursing for a few years around the U.S. before getting married.  They both enjoy biking, hiking, camping, swimming, sports and, of course music.  Barry and Elizabeth have been involved in music their whole lives.  Elizabeth started by singing solos in church when she was only six.  She was very active in music in her high school and in church while growing up.  She was involved in band, orchestra and choir in college as well.  Barry was also involved in choir and band during high school and took up the guitar during college.  They both have been active in numerous worship teams.  They love the Lord and believe they are called to do His work here in Sunnyside.  email: fbcsunnyside@yahoo.com.  Phone: 509-643-4477

Church Secretary

Cassie Dalrymple began working as the church secretary in 2006.  She was born and raised in Sunnyside, and comes to First Baptist with several years of office management experience.  Cassie married Randy in 1982, and they have five children: Fatima Delik, 23 (adopted from Germany) is living in Seattle, and graduated from the University of Washington in 2008.  They have four at home: Renee is 16, Rita is 13, C.J. is 12, and Melissa is 11.  The kids attend Sunnyside Christian School and love to play basketball.  Cassie and Randy have been attending First Baptist Church since 1988 and have been active in vaarious areas for many years.  Cassie, Randy and family have a very busy family life.  They enjoy camping, boating, bicycle riding and lots of basketball.  email fbcsunnyside@embarqmail.com.
